StartManaging-Legal is a product of Shoal Valley Systems, a Texas-based software company building the management studios that small and mid-size services firms always wanted but never got from the bigger vendors.

Why we built it
The first tenant on the platform is T. Maxwell Smith, PLLC, a Bosque County plaintiff's litigation firm with three offices and twelve staff. Every tool we evaluated tried to be either a glorified time-tracker or a glorified CRM. The work actually happens across both — and across packets, engagement letters, intake, billing, bookkeeping, and quick-draft estate-planning documents. Stitching that together across five vendors was the daily friction. StartManaging-Legal is what we built instead.
What we're not
We don't want to be the biggest. We want to be the cleanest. The studio runs in a tab; the data exports as one JSON file; the print pages look like a real firm sent them. Where we add features, we earn them.
Where we're going
The phased build plan is public to the firms running the studio. The next milestones, in order, are mobile apps for iOS / Android, a public API, paid plans + Stripe checkout, and a SOC 2 Type I report once we're at ~25 tenants. Every release is dated and announced in-app.
